TENNIS AT WEST LAKE
Our programs are the best and most well-rounded in the CSRA. We have seven soft composition courts and four hard courts. Our newest addition is the Beach Tennis Court! Beach Tennis is a new sport taking the country by storm so kick off your shoes and have some fun in sun and sand. Our spacious pro shop includes showers, lounge, check-in and merchandising area. There is also an observation deck that allows complete viewing of all twelve courts.
We are especially proud of the service we provide in our tennis shop. Our courteous and helpful shop staff makes sure that any and all of your retail needs are met. The shop is equipped with a full line of clothing, shoes, grip tape, socks, rackets and all of the accessories. We have a complete selection of today's popular strings and generally offer one-day service on restringing.
We run a number of events that cater to all levels of play at the Club. These events usually take the form of a one-day round robin or something similar. In addition to these smaller events, we also host several larger functions such as the Member-Guest, and College – Am. All are competitive all player levels.
The Club has very active ladies' teams. These teams compete in the CSRA Ladies Tennis League. All of the matches are played locally and are usually completed by noon. Since this group is a little more competitive, there is a practice session offered once per week during the season.
Our junior tennis program is by far the most active in the area. There are weekly workouts for players from beginning to advanced. We participate in the Augusta Area Junior League and make trips to other clubs to play as often as the schedule allows. For our more serious juniors, we travel around the state to compete in sanctioned tournaments.
Each season we sponsor USTA adult teams that participate at different NTRP levels of play. Essentially the different NTRP levels equate to methods of ensuring that everyone plays against teams of like ability.
We offer three different types of lessons: private, semi-private and group. Private lessons are always the most instructive and personal, and the most expensive. Many people will opt for semi-private or group lessons to defer some of the cost and to have someone with whom to learn. All lessons here offered by qualified tennis pros so you can rest assured that you are being taught by a certified professional.
Our normal hours of operation are Tuesday through Saturday from 9:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M and 1:00 to 6:00 on Sundays. However, the shop will remain open until 11:00 P.M. if there are reservations beyond normal closing time. Courts may be reserved seven days in advance by phoning or coming by the tennis shop after 9:00 A.M. each day. Singles reservations are for ninety minutes while doubles are for two hours. Guests are welcome, but must be accompanied by a member. The same guest may frequent the club no more than twice per month. The guest fee is $5 per day. Services in the tennis shop may be paid for with cash, check or charged to your Club bill.
